Citrus Oak Snack Bars(From Carnation Milk)
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2 tsp. grated lemon or orange zest
- 1 egg or egg substitute
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. ground mace
- 1/2 c. undiluted Carnation
- 2/3 c. rolled oats
- 1/4 c. raisins
- 1/4 c. wheat germ
- 2 Tbsp. rolled oats
- In small bowl, cream brown sugar, shortening and zest.
- Beat in egg; set aside.
- In small bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and mace.
- Add flour mixture and milk alternately to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture; beat well after each addition.
- Stir in 2/3 cup oats, raisins and wheat germ.
- Spread into lightly greased 8-inch square baking pan. Sprinkle top with remaining 2 tablespoons oats.
- Bake in preheated 350u0b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool.
- Cut into 12 bars.
