Ww Turkey Chili
- 1 spray(s) cooking spray
- 1 tsp canola oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 2 medium carrots thinly sliced into round circles
- 1 pound of 90% lean ground turkey
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 2 medium chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup canned tomato sauce
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cup canned kidney beans (or you other favorite bean) rinsed and drained
- 1 medium chopped green pepper
- 1/2 tsp table salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1 diced jalapeno, without seeds
- Coat a large dutch oven with cooking spray and place over medium heat. Then add the canola oil onion and saute onion until soft which will take about 5 to 7 minutes. Next, add the garlic, carrots, and jalapeno and cook until garlic is softened (about 1 minute). This mixture will begin to build the flavor base for your weight watchers turkey chili.
- Add the ground turkey. Brown the turkey meat and break it up with a wooden spoon as it is cooking. This will take about 5 minutes over medium heat. Once the turkey is browned, you will add all the other ingredients that will add flavor and depth to your weight watchers turkey chili. Bring this combination to a boil and then allow to simmer covered for 40 minutes.
- Once your turkey chili has simmered for 40 minutes, it is time to serve it.
- Adding scallions, low fat cheddar cheese, fat free sour cream, baked tortilla chips, or chopped onions and enjoy!
