Hot Mushroom Canapés
- 1 lb. mushrooms
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 lb. cream cheese
- 2 egg yolks
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 loaves white bread
- Remove stem from mushrooms and saute in olive oil for 10 mins or so. Let cool. Cut bread into 1 1/2" rounds and toast in 350 degree oven for maybe 15 mins til slightly golden in color.
- Mix together (best to do in a food processor):
- Butter, cream cheese, egg yolks, garlic and salt
- Spread over each toasted round top with mushroom then dollop more spread on top of mushroom cap.
- Just before serving place in broiler, far from the heat source as possible so canape's will be heated through. When tops are lightly browned, remove and serve. WATCH THEM IN OVER CAREFULLY SO THEY DON'T BURN!
