Lamb Gyros With Cucumber Yogurt Sauce
- 8 oz yogurt
- 1/3 C peeled
- seeded and chopped cucumber
- 2 TBSP grated peeled onion
- 1 Clove garlic crushed
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 2 cloves garlic crushed
- 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp ground black pepper 4 pita pockets
- 1 medium onion sliced thin
- 1 medium tomato sliced thin
- Mix yogurt, cucumber, grated onion, first garlic clove and sugar in mixing bowl and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 mins.
- In a large bowl, mix lamb, remaining garlic and seasonings and shape into 2 large patties and broil until cooked through. Carve each into slices and serve in pita with onions, tomatoes and yogurt sauce.
