Gooey Chocolate Cake
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 t salt
- 2 t baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1 1/2 t vanilla extract
- Topping for batter:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 cups hot water
- Whisk together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in bowl. Whisk in milk, butter and vanilla. Stir together until smooth. Pour batter into a ungreased 9-inch square baking pan.
- Mix together sugar, light brown sugar, and cocoa and sprinkle evenly over batter. Pour the hot water over the top (do not stir).
- Bake 30 mins. Remove from oven and let stand 15 minutes
