Flaky Flaky Perfect Pie Crust
- 1 cup flour
- 1/3 cup vegetable shortening butter flavored (sticks work best)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 T ice water
- 1/8 tsp baking powder
- Sift flour, salt and baking powder into medium bowl.
- Remove 2 Tbsp flour and put into small bowl
- In medium bowl add shortening. Cut it into flour with two knives or pastry cutter until mixed well in pea size pieces.
- In little bowl, add ice water to flour and mix into paste.
- Pour paste into pastry using rubber spatula to get all moisture. Stir then squeeze with finger tips till it forms a ball and all flour is mixed together.
- Refrigerate if time permits
- Roll on floured pastry sheet or waxed paper.
- Bake as your recipe for unbaked pie shell calls or at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes until lightly browned edges. Be sure to weight center
