Angel Biscuits
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water (110~ to 115~)
- 3 3/4 c. all-purpose flour, divided
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 egg, beaten
- Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside.
- In medium bowl, mix 3 1/2 cups flour with other dry ingredients; cut in Crisco.
- Stir in buttermilk, yeast mixture and egg; blend thoroughly.
- Turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Knead slightly, adding remaining flour, if needed.
- Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut with a 2-inch cutter, dipping into flour as needed.
- Place on lightly greased baking sheet.
- Let dough rise slightly.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
