Tangy Shrimp Spread
- 1 pound unpeeled fresh shrimp (medium size)
- 6 ounces cream cheese, softened (do not use low fat or non fat; recipe doesn't turn out well unless you use regular cream cheese)
- 1/3 c ketchup
- 1 tsp grated yellow or white onion
- 1 tsp prepared horseradish
- 1/2 - 1.5 tsp ground red pepper (add red pepper depending on how hot you would like the recipe to be)
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Cook shrimp until they turn pink. Drain well and peel and devein. Coarsely chop and set aside.
- Combine cream cheese and remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl. Mix until blended well. Spoon in shrimp and stir until mixed in. Transfer mixture to small bowl and chill for at least 2 hours.
- Serve with assorted crackers (recommend hearty crackers that can handle the weight of the spread)
