Amaretto-Chocolate Sauce
- 1 c. whipping cream
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 (4 oz.) bittersweet chocolate bars, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 3 to 4 Tbsp. Amaretto
- fresh strawberries for garnish
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 c. light brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 heavy (whipping) cream
- 1 Tbsp. bourbon
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 to 2 c. toasted pecans
- Combine egg yolks, sugar and butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat.
- Stir until well blended.
- Add cream, bourbon and vanilla.
- Bring mixture just to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat; stir in pecans.
- Refrigerate until ready to use.
- Reheat to serve over slices of pound cake.
