German Style Vegetable Soup

  1. Put meat, onions, celery, salt and pepper in large soup pot. Cover with water 1 to 2 inches above contents and cook (covered) over medium heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender. Add water as necessary.
  2. Add cabbage and can of tomatoes (cut up tomatoes) and continue to cook for about 1 hour or until cabbage is soft.
  3. In separate pots, cook carrots and potatoes until soft (not mushy).
  4. Add cooked carrots, potatoes and tomato soup and simmer until hot.
