Margie'S Onion Soup

  1. 1. Chop onions.
  2. 2. In large pan fry bacon until crisp. Remove.
  3. 3. Saute onions in bacon grease over low heat until transparent.
  4. 4. Stir in flour and continue to cook for 1 minute.
  5. 5. Add consomme & water and stir until well mixed.
  6. 6. Add pepper to taste.
  7. 7. Add all remaining spices and simmer a minimum 30 minutes - while simmering prepare bread.
  8. 1. Slice the french bread.
  9. 2. Toast bread on one side
  10. 3. On untoasted side, spread butter and place a slice of cheese.
  11. 4. Put a piece of bacon on top of cheese slice and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  12. 5. Put under broiler until cheese melts.
  13. Put the bread in a bowl and pour soup over.
