Easy Apple Galette
- Cooking spray
- 3 T sugar
- 1/4 t ground cinnamon
- 1/4 t nutmeg
- 1 ready to use pie crust
- 1 large egg white, beaten
- 2 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, sliced 1/8 in thick
- 1 T cold unsalted butter, in bits
- 3 T apricot preserves
- Preheat oven to 425 F. With cooking spray, coat baking sheet. In small cup, mix sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Unfold crust on prepared baking sheet; with fingers, press together any ripped seams or tears in dough.
- Brush crust with egg white. Sprinkle with 1 T sugar mixture. Starting 1 inch in from edge, arrange apple slices in circle, overalpping; with remaining slices, fill center, operlapping slices. Sprinkle evenly with 2 T sugar mixture; dot with butter. Fold edges of crust over apples. Brush crust with egg white; sprinkle crust evenly with remaining sugar mixture.
- Bake 15 minutes. Reduce to 375 F and bake 18-20 minutes longer, until crust is brown and apples are tender. Transfer to rack. Heat preserves in saucepan and brush over apples. Let cool and serve.
