Candied Michigan Apples
- 5 Red Apples
- 5 Wooden Skewers
- 2 cups Sugar
- 1/2 cup Light Corn Syrup
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1 teaspoon Red Food Coloring
- 1/4 cup Virtue Cider Michigan Apple
- Line a baking sheet with greased parchment paper, or use a nonstick mat
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, Virtue Cider Michigan Apple and food coloring
- Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to medium high
- Insert candy thermometer and continue to boil until temperature reaches between 300-310 degrees F or "Hard crack" phase
- Insert wooden skewers into the top of each washed apple, pushing it halfway through
- When mixture reaches temperature, immediately remove from heat
- Working quickly, swirl apples in sugar mixture until completely coated; transfer to lined baking sheet and cool completely
