Oriental Chicken Casserole
- 1 c. sliced celery
- 1/2 c. (1/2-inch) green onion slices
- 1/3 c. butter
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- dash of garlic salt
- 2 c. milk
- 2 tsp. soy sauce
- 1/2 c. shredded American cheese
- 2 c. cubed cooked chicken
- 1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts, sliced
- 1 (6 oz.) can chow mein noodles
- Saute celery and onion in butter in a saucepan until onion is soft.
- Blend in the flour, salt and garlic salt.
- Add milk and soy sauce and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Remove from heat; add cheese and stir until melted.
- Stir in the chicken. Drain the water chestnuts.
- Stir into chicken mixture.
- Place layers of noodles and chicken mixture in a 1 1/2-quart casserole, beginning and ending with noodles.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
