Chocolate-Glazed Toffee Bars

  1. Lightly grease an 8" square baking pan
  2. Using a wire whisk, thoroughly stir together flour, sugar, salt.
  3. Sprinkle over the flour mixture chilled butter, cut into small pieces
  4. Using pastry blender, cut butter into flour until it resembles fine meal.
  5. Sprinkle the mixture with 2tsp milk.
  6. Lightly stir to mix. Knead until particles begin to hold together, adding 1-2 tsp milk if needed until mixture holds together but is not wet.
  7. Press dough into pan to form a smooth even layer. Refrigerate 15 min
  8. Bake chilled dough on middle rack 10 min. Set aside to cool.

  10. Spread chopped pecans in baking pan, toast, stirring occasionally, 5-8 min until very lightly browned. Set aside to cool.
  11. Combine butter, brown sugar, honey, milk, salt in heavy medium saucepan.
  12. Stirring frequently, bring mix to a boil over med heat. Boil, uncovered, for 3 min, remove from heat. Stir in toasted pecans and vanilla.
  13. Spread mix over baked layer. Bake 17-20 min or until bubbly, golden brown, and just slightly darker at edges. Transfer pan to wire rack to cool until warm.
  14. Sprinkle with chocolate morsels. Let stand until partially melted, partially spread the chocolate.
  15. Sprinkle with finely chopped pecans. Let cool until chocolate thickens but is still slightly soft. Cut into bars using sharp knife. Let cool completely before removing from pan.
