Thanksgiving Dressing
- 1 loaf white bread, cut into 1" cubes
- 1/2 C. butter
- 6 1/2 C. yellow onion
- 6 stalks celery
- 2 C. red and green peppers
- 1 lb. hamburger, (not lean)
- 1 lb. Jimmy Dean's sausage
- 1 cream of mushroom soup
- 3 C. chicken stock
- 3 T. chopped rosemary leaves
- 1/4 C. EVOO
- 2 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 C. mushroom slices
- In a frying pan add Extra Virgin Olive Oil, fry hamburger and sausage until just turning brown. Place in large baking pan. In fry pan, stir fry onion, celery and peppers about 10 min. in 1/2 C. butter. In a large bowl mix cubed bread with cream of mushroom soup and chicken stock.
- Add salt, pepper, and rosemary leaves. Stir in hamburger and sausage. Place in a 9" x 13" pyrex casserole. Top with sliced mushrooms. Bake in oven 350 degrees covered with foil for 30 min.
- Uncover and bake for another 30 min. until top is lightly browned.
