Yellow Cake With Chocolate Butter Frosting
- Cake
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoon baking power
- 1 teaspoon salt ( a little more than a pinch)
- 1 1/4 milk
- Chocolate butter frosting
- 1/3 cup soft butter
- 2 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate (cool)
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- about 2 tablespoons milk
- Cake
- Heat oven to 350 degrees
- Grease and flour pan,
- In large mixer bowl, mix butter sugar eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Beat 5 minutes on hig speed, scraping bowl occasionally. On low speed mix flour, baking powder and salt alternately with milk. Pour into pans.
- Bake oblong 45 to 50 minutes, layers 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, Cool
- Chocolate butter frosting
- Mix thoroughly butter and cooled chocolate. Blend in sugar. Stir in vanilla and milk; beat until frosting is smooth and of speading consistency.
- Fills and frost two 8- or 9 inch layers
