Three Layer Brownies
- Base:
- 2 squares dark/unsweet chocolate
- 1/2c butter
- 2 eggs
- 1c sugar
- 1/2c shifted flour
- 1/2c chopped nuts (optional)
- Middle:
- 4T butter
- 2c sifted powdered sugar
- 2T cream or milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp peppermint flavoring
- Top:
- 3 squares dark or semisweet chocolate
- 3T butter
- crushed candy canes, mini chocolate chips, and/or white chocolate chips
- Bottom:
- Melt butter and chocolate together. Take off heat and add sugar, beat in eggs, add flour and nuts. Pour in 13x9" pan (greased). Bake at 350 for 20-25mins. Let cool 1 hour.
- Middle:
- Beat together ingredients and spread on top of cool brownies. Refrigerate until cold, but do not freeze yet.
- Top:
- Melt together chocolate and butter. While hot, pour over white layer and tilt pan to coat. Sprinkle crushed candy and chocolate chips on top. Freeze or refrigerate before cutting into pieces to serve.
