Darn Good Turkey Chili

  1. Heat oil in large pot on medium high heat. Add onion and garlic; saute about 5 minutes, until tender. Add turkey; stir until no longer pink, breaking up with edge of spatula. Add mushrooms. Stir in oregano, cumin, cayenne pepper, chili powder, bay leaves, cocoa powder, salt, season-all, and cinnamon. Add tomatoes with juices, chicken broth, beer, and tomato paste. Bring to a boil; reduce heat; simmer 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
  2. Add beans and simmer at least 20 minutes. Discard bay leaves.
  3. Serve with sharp cheddar cheese, and sour cream (low fat or fat free if you are watching calories.
  4. Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Rewarm over medium-low heat.
