Grandma'S Chicken Artichoke Casserole
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
- 1/2 c flour
- 3 1/2 c milk
- 1/2 t red cayenne pepper
- 1 T accent
- 1/8 lb cheddar cheese
- 3 oz gruyere cheese
- 2 7 3/4 oz can button mushrooms
- 2 10 3/4 oz can artichoke hearts
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 8 chicken breasts or whole chicken deboned
- chedder cheese for top
- sprinkle crumbled fried bacon on top if desired
- Make cream sauce: melt butter, brown flour and add milk slowly till thickensand add red pepper and accent. Cut up chedder and gruyere and add to sauce. Cook until it bubbles and cheese melts. Add meat from 1 whole chicken or I prefer chicken breasts only. add mushrooms, artichokes. Top with cheddar cheese and crumbled fried bacon. Put in casserole dish and bake at 350 for 30 minutes
