Spicy Broccoli

  1. Cut broccoli into bite-sized florets
  2. Seed red bell pepper and chop into 1/2" pieces. Seed the jalapeno and slice into 1/8" half rounds.
  3. Thinly slice the garlic
  4. Using a vegetable peeler, peel the bright skin from a lemon or orange. Cut each flat piece into long, very thin strips.
  5. Heat a frying pan to med-high heat. Put 2 tbsp olive oil in the pan and lay the broccoli in a single layer in the pan. Salt and pepper the broccoli. Press broccoli into the pan, reduce heat to medium, and let the broccoli char, about 8 minutes.
  6. Toss/turn the broccoli so that the charred side is up and char another part of each piece, another 5-8 minutes. Add oil if needed.
  7. When both sides of broccoli are charred, add garlic and peppers and stir. Let cook another 4-5 minutes, then add the citrus peel. Stir fry the entire dish about 2 minutes.
  8. Serve hot.
