Sweet And Sour Tofu

  1. Slice tofu into 1-inch squares that are about 1/4-inch thick. Lightly brush a cookie sheet with oil.
  2. Place the tofu squares on the sheet and brush the tops with remaining oil.
  3. Broil for 5 minutes on each side.
  4. Steam the carrots and green pepper slices until tender.
  5. Combine the cornstarch with 3 tablespoons of the tamari.
  6. Mix thoroughly to remove all lumps.
  7. In a large saucepan, combine the pineapple juice, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic powder, cornstarch mixture and the remaining tamari.
  8. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer until thickened.
  9. Add the steamed vegetables, pineapple and tofu.
  10. Serve on rice.
