Summer Veggie Soy Bean Burgers
- 2 (15 oz) cans of soy beans or 3 cups home cooked soy beans
- 1 1/2 cup whole wheat dry breadcrumbs
- 2/3 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup BBQ sauce
- 3 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 egg white beaten
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 2/3 cup finely chopped celery
- 2/3 cup grated carrots
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1/8 cup raw sunflower seeds
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- For mix mash the soy beans and add the breadcrumbs, flour, egg white, BBQ sauce, and ketchup. Then mix in all of the spices. Add in the carrots, sunflower seeds, celery, onion, and garlic one at a time mixing throughout the mix. Let sit for at least an hour in the fridge. Mix can be frozen and stored for up too a week.
- When ready to cook pre-heat your charcoal of gas barbeque. Form into burgers roughly 1/2 inch thick and 4 inches in diameter. Cook on undirect heat for for 5 minutes on each side. Then on direct heat until browned on both sides About 5 minutes each side. Serve on a toasted whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomato, and a slice of red onion.
