Orange Easter Braids
- 5 cups flour
- 1 package dry yeast
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 each eggs
- 3 tablespoons orange juice
- 4 teaspoons grated orange peel
- Vanilla Icing
- 1 cup confectioner's sugar
- 1-1/2 tablespoons milk (more if needed)
- Combine 2 cups flour and yeast in large bowl.
- Combine milk, butter sugar and salt in saucepan; heat on low until very warm (120-130*F).
- Add milk to flour mixture. Add eggs; beat 1/2 minute on low, scrapping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes on high.
- Add 1 cup flour, beat 1 minute longer. Add OJ and peel. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough.
- Knead on floured surface 5 to 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl; turning to grease all sides. Cover. Let rise in warm place 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
- Punch down; divide dough in half. Shape each half into 3 equal portions and roll into 14-inch long rolls.
- Braid. Place on baking sheet; cover; let rise until doubled.
- Bake at 350 degrees or 20-25 minutes or until golden. Cool. Drizzle with Vanilla Icing.
- Vanilla Icing
- Combine confectioner's sugar and milk.
