Pear Pie With Cheddar Topping

  1. 1 - pare, core & slice pears to measure 5 cups. Combine sugar, cornstarch & salt. Mix with pears and turn into pie shell.
  2. 2 - prepare topping by combing flour, salt, sugar, cheese & melted butter until crumbly. Sprinkle topping on pears.
  3. 3 - bake on low rack in a 425 degree oven for about 25-30 minutes or until pears are tender & crust is crisp & golden brown. Serve warm topped with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
  4. IMPORTANT - bake on bottom rack!
