Irish Sherry Trifle

  1. Put a layer of sponge cake, about 3/4 inch thick, at bottom of dish.
  2. A clear glass dish (about 3-quart) is preferable.
  3. Coat lightly with jam and saturate with half of sherry.
  4. Arrange ladyfingers in standing position around dish.
  5. Cover sponge cake with 1/2-inch layer of both gelatins.
  6. Cover with layer of cool custard.
  7. Repeat procedure 2 more times.
  8. Place whipped cream on top and garnish with cherries or strawberries.
  9. Chill and serve. Makes 10 to 12 servings.
