Apple Cranberry Tart
- One unbaked 9 inch tart shell
- 7 oz. almond paste
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 5 medium sliced apples preferably Macintosh (5 cups)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 t cinnamon
- 1/2 cup uncooked oats
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 6 T unsalted butter (very cold or frozen}
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Flatten almond paste on wax paper with rolling pin to form an 8 inch circle.
- In a bowl combine cranberries, apples sugar and 1/2 t of cinnamon
- Pour on top of almond shell into tart shell.
- In a bowl combine the remaining cinnamon, oats, flour and brown sugar.
- Cut butter into small pieces and stir into cinnamon mixture until crumbs form.
- Spoon crumb mixture evenly over the top of the apple mixture.
- Bake 50-60 minutes.
- Sprinkle with sliced almonds over last 5 min. cooking
- Serve warm with scoop of vanilla ice cream.
