New England Clam Chowder

  1. In large pot melt butter and saute bacon until almost crisp. Add onions, celery, carrot, garlic and saute until tender. Stir in flour and cook 1-2 minutes. Add wine, clams, corn, half and half, thyme, tabasco, worcestershire, potatoes and salt and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Add sherry last, just before serving.
