Buldak: Fire Chicken!
- 6-8 chicken thighs
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- marinade:
- 2 tbsp sake
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp honey
- fresh ground black pepper
- sauce:
- 2 tbsp korean chili paste
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp karashi mustard (or other hot mustard)
- hot chilies (to taste)
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1/2 large onion
- 1/2 large pear, cored and seeded
- 1. in large non-reactive bowl, whisk together marinade ingredients until well mixed.
- 2. pat dry chicken thighs and marinate for 30min.
- 3. in blender, combine sauce ingredients and mix until smooth.
- 4. heat oil in frying pan over medium-high heat, add chicken, skin-side down and cook for 12min, then flip chicken and cook for 5min
- 5. lower heat to medium and add sauce, stirring to coat chicken, and simmer for 5min
