Whole Wheat Apple Cake With Crumb Topping
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup softened butter
- 1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup white flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups uncooked chopped apples
- TOPPING:
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 tbsp whole wheat flour
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup chopped nut meats
- Cream together brown sugar, white sugar, and butter. Sift flours, soda, and salt together and add. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Stir in chopped apples. Spread in ungreased 9 X 13 pan.
- Mix together the cinnamon, brown sugar and flour for topping. Cut in butter until the size of small peas. Stir in chopped nuts and sprinkle topping on cake batter.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
