Osovo

  1. In a 6-8 quart pot heat oil and sear flanken heavily on both sides
  2. Remove Flanken to plate
  3. Brown diced onion in pot. During the last 2 minuted add garlic
  4. Add soup and crushed tomatoes. Heat over medium flame.
  5. Cube Flanken add to pot and bring mixture to simmer.
  6. Add Rice, return to simmer. Rice will look dry
  7. Add salt and pepper and soup base to taste
  8. Set crock pot to low. Spray liner with Pam. Add rice mixture. Pack down lightly. Add water.
  9. The rice will look very dry and the edges will be very dark. You may need to add water from a kli rishon. Do not depend on this lchatchilah
