Italian Shell Bake
- 2 1/2 c. (8 oz.) medium shells (uncooked)
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 c. chopped onion (optional)
- 1 c. tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. each: garlic salt and oregano
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 c. (16 oz.) Ricotta cheese
- 2 c. (8 oz.) shredded Mozzarella
- 1/4 c. chopped fresh parsley
- Brown ground beef in large skillet.
- Add onion and saute until tender.
- Pour off excess fat.
- Stir in tomato sauce, garlic salt, oregano and pepper; simmer.
- While this simmers, cook medium shells according to package; drain well.
- Combine Ricotta, 1 1/2 cups Mozzarella and chopped parsley; mix well.
- Combine shells with meat sauce.
- Place 1/2 of the mixture into a buttered pan. Spread cheese filling evenly over shells.
- Do again with shells and meat mixture; spread cheese mixture.
- Sprinkle Mozzarella. Cover and bake at 350u0b0 for 25 minutes.
- Remove cover and bake 5 minutes longer.
