Tourtiere(Meat Pie)
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. soft bread crumbs
- 2 tsp. sage
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- pastry for 3 pies
- Pour oil into very large pot over low heat.
- Add all ingredients remaining, except pastry; mix well.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes, or until most liquid is absorbed but mixture is still very moist.
- Let cool.
- Line pie plates with pastry.
- Add filling; cover with top crust.
- Seal and cut slits in top.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 35 minutes.
