Orange Slice Cake

  1. Cut candy, nuts and fruits in small pieces.
  2. Toss in 1 cup flour.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time.
  6. Add rest of flour alternately with milk; mix well.
  7. Add soda, baking powder and salt.
  8. Mix all other fruits. Put into well greased tube pan.
  9. Bake at 275u0b0 for about 2 1/2 hours.
  10. While still hot make glaze using 2 cups orange juice, 2 cups sugar and 1 tablespoon grated orange rind.
  11. Simmer at least 1 hour, then pour over cake.
