Char Siu Pork With Green Beans
- 7 oz boneless pork chops, cut into strips
- 2 tbsp Chinese barbecue sauce
- 2 tsp light soy sauce
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- 1 tbsp peanut oil
- 1 None shallot, thinly sliced
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 4 oz green beans, cut into 1-inch lengths
- 1 tbsp mirin (Japanese rice wine)
- 1/4 cup rinsed, drained sliced bamboo shoots
- 2 tsp sesame seeds, toasted
- Combine the pork, sauces and five-spice in a small bowl.
- Heat 1/2 of the oil in a wok on high heat. Stir-fry the pork mixture until browned and sticky. Remove from the wok.
- Heat the remaining oil in the wok. Stir-fry the shallot, garlic and beans until the beans are tender. Return the pork to the wok with the mirin and bamboo shoots. Stir-fry until heated through. Season to taste. Serve topped with sesame seeds.
