Chocolate Poundcake

  1. Start heating oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Line with wax paper bottom of a 3 1/2-inch deep 9-inch tube pan.
  3. Into large bowl sift flour, cream of tartar, soda, salt and sugar.
  4. Drop in shortening; pour in milk and vanilla.
  5. With electric mixer at low speed to medium speed, beat 2 minutes, scraping bowl and beaters as needed.
  6. Add eggs, egg yolk and chocolate; beat 1 minute.
  7. Turn into pan.
  8. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes.
