Jade Green Broccoli Chinese-Style

  1. Wash broccoli; cut off florets.
  2. Peel stems and slice on a slant into 1/4 or 1/2-inch slices.
  3. Mix cornstarch, 1/2 cup of water or chicken broth and soy sauce in small bowl.
  4. Heat wok or frying pan on high.
  5. Add 3 tablespoons of oil, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, garlic, sugar, broccoli and mushrooms.
  6. Stir quickly 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Add water mixture; lower heat and cook, covered, for 5 to 6 minutes.
  8. Uncover and add oyster sauce.
  9. Stir and serve.
