Chocolate Raisin Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350u0b0F. Lightly grease a 9-inch tube pan.
  2. Place raisins and 2 cups water in a medium saucepan on high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 10 mins. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate, cinnamon, baking soda, vanilla and cloves. Set aside to cool.
  3. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Sift flours together. Fold into egg mixture with raisin mixture, until well combined. Spoon into prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 1 hour 10 mins. Cool in pan for 5 mins. Remove from pan; cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. Meanwhile, for the chocolate glaze, melt chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of gently simmering water, stirring until smooth. Pour over cake 30 mins before serving.
