Old Fashioned Dried Apple Stack Cake
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. sorghum molasses
- 3 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ginger
- cooked, dried apples
- Preheat
- oven
- to
- 350u0b0.
- Sifttell flour, salt, soda, baking powder,
- salt
- and
- ginger. Cream shortening, then add sugar,
- a little
- at a time, blending well.
- Add sorghum; mix thoroughly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well until smooth after each. Pour very thin layers (1/3-inch) into 9-inch pans and bake.
- This will
- maket or 7 layers. When you've cooked dried applestbout 3 to 4 cups (sugar and cinnamon to taste) spread between each layer and on top layer.
