Spicy Parmesan Biscuits
- 2 1/3 cups flour
- 1/3 cup self-rising flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp mild paprika
- 18 tbsp butter, chopped
- 6 oz Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 tsp dried chili pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds (optiona)
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0F. For the dough, sift the flours, salt and paprika into a medium bowl. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the cheese, chili flakes and about 2 tbsp water, or enough to make a soft dough. Knead gently on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
- Roll heaped teaspoons of the dough into balls and place on greased baking sheets 1 inch apart. Flatten slightly with the back of a spoon. Using the nozzle of a piping bag, make a design on top of the biscuits. Sprinkle with poppy seeds, if using, and bake for 30 mins, or until golden. Cool on baking sheets, then serve.
