Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1/2 c. margarine, softened
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. applesauce
- 4 egg whites or 2 whole eggs
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 2 1/2 c. uncooked oatmeal
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- Heat oven to 375u0b0.
- Beat margarine and sugars.
- Add applesauce, egg whites, milk and vanilla; beat well.
- Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well.
- Stir in oats, chocolate chips and nuts; mix well.
- Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 9 to 10 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12 to 13 minutes for a crisp one.
- Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet.
- Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
