Rosanne'S Favorite Cut-Out Cookies
- 1/2 c. butter, softened (1 stick)
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
- 2 2/3 c. flour
- 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- food coloring (if desired)
- In large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk, egg and extracts.
- Stir in flour, baking powder and salt until well blended.
- (If using one one food coloring, add several drops when beating in liquids.
- Otherwise, divide dough and knead coloring into dough portions if using more than one color.)
- Then wrap dough or portions of dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate approximately 1 hour.
- Next, roll dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch and use cookie cutters for desired shapes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350u0b0 on ungreased cookie sheets for 10 minutes or until very lightly browned.
- Cool on wire racks.
