Hazelnut And Apple Friands

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0F. Lightly grease a 12-hole friand pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, ground hazelnuts and flour. Mix in butter and vanilla, stirring gently until just combined. Fold apple into the batter.
  3. In a clean bowl, lightly whisk egg-whites until frothy. Fold in the hazelnut batter.
  4. Divide batter evenly between friand pans. Sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts. Bake 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through when tested with a toothpick.
  5. Cool 5 minutes in pan, then turn onto a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar, to serve.
