Chocolate Cherry French Toast
- 1 lb cherries, pitted and halved lengthwise
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 12 None thick slices white bread
- 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread
- 4 None eggs
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp butter, chopped
- None None Powdered sugar, to dust
- Place cherries, granulated sugar and lemon juice in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Cook and stir until sugar dissolves. Bring to a simmer; simmer for 10 mins or until cherries are just soft. Remove from heat. Cool.
- Spread 6 bread slices with chocolate hazelnut spread; top with remaining bread slices. Whisk eggs and cream in a large bowl.
- Heat half the butter in a large skillet on medium-low heat. Dip 3 of the sandwiches into egg mixture; turn to coat evenly. Cook for 10 mins, turning once, or until golden and cooked. Transfer to serving plates. Cut in half. Repeat with remaining butter, sandwiches and egg mixture. Serve warm French toast with cherry syrup, dusted with powdered sugar.
