Yeast Rolls

  1. In large bowl, scramble sugar with yeast.
  2. Add salt and mix well.
  3. Scald milk with butter (the size of English walnut).
  4. Cool milk until a little above warm to finger touch.
  5. Pour over yeast, stir until dissolved.
  6. Add 1 1/2 cups flour; mix well.
  7. Add egg, stir and add 1 1/2 cups flour.
  8. Allow to rise in warm spot (about 2 hours).
  9. Knead down dough and put on floured area.
  10. Pat down to about 5/8-inch thick and cut rolls to desired size.
  11. Place on greased cookie sheet.
  12. Let rise again about 30 to 40 minutes.
  13. Cook in 400u0b0 oven about 8 to 10 minutes or until brown on top.
  14. Top with butter.
  15. Makes 12 to 15 (2-inch) rolls.
  16. Recipe may be doubled.
