Japanese Gyoza
- 12.5 oz ground pork
- 3 None spring onions, finely sliced, plus extra shredded to serve
- 3/4 inch fresh ginger, grated
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp soy sauce, plus extra to serve
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 10 oz gyoza or wonton wrappers
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- In a large bowl, combine pork, spring onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce and sesame oil. Season to taste.
- Working with 5 wrappers at a time, lay wrappers out on a clean, flat surface. Place level tablespoons of pork filling in the center of each wrapper. Brush edges with water and fold in 1/2, crimping edges to seal. Repeat with remaining dumplings.
- Heat oil and 1/2 cup water in a large frying pan over high heat. Add gyoza, cover and simmer for 5 mins. Uncover and simmer for 5-7 mins, until water evaporates and pastry turns golden. Serve hot with extra soy sauce and shredded spring onion.
