Poached Pears With Chocolate Sauce
- 4 None medium pears, peeled, stems intact
- 1 None cinnamon stick
- 2 1/2 tbsp sugar substitute
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp custard powder
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup milk
- In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups water to a boil. Add pears, cinnamon and 2 tbsp sugar substitute. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes, or until pears are tender when tested with a skewer. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and set aside to cool.
- Meanwhile, for chocolate sauce, combine custard powder, cocoa powder and remaining sweetener in a small saucepan. Add a little milk, whisking until smooth. Gradually add remaining milk until smooth. Cook, stirring, for 2 mins, or until mixture boils and thickens.
- To serve, place pears in shallow serving bowls. Serve with chocolate sauce.
