Poached Pears With Chocolate Sauce

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups water to a boil. Add pears, cinnamon and 2 tbsp sugar substitute. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes, or until pears are tender when tested with a skewer. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and set aside to cool.
  2. Meanwhile, for chocolate sauce, combine custard powder, cocoa powder and remaining sweetener in a small saucepan. Add a little milk, whisking until smooth. Gradually add remaining milk until smooth. Cook, stirring, for 2 mins, or until mixture boils and thickens.
  3. To serve, place pears in shallow serving bowls. Serve with chocolate sauce.
