Quick Rolls
- 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. Crisco
- 1 cake yeast or 3 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 6 c. flour
- Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.
- In large bowl or dishpan, combine Crisco, sugar and salt.
- Pour the 1 1/2 cups boiling water over Crisco, sugar and salt; stir until Crisco melts and let cool until lukewarm.
- Add dissolved yeast and beaten eggs. Add 4 cups flour; stir and add remaining 2 cups flour.
- Knead into soft dough; if dough is real sticky, add a little more flour until you have a soft dough, but not stiff.
- Form into a large ball; lightly grease the top and let rise at a warm temperature until double in size.
- Slightly punch down and make into rolls, not too big, a little larger than a golf ball.
- Grease tops.
- Let rise to double in size.
- Bake at 325u0b0 to 350u0b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Makes approximately 25 rolls.
