Beef And Mushroom Pot Pie
- 2 1/2 tbsp butter
- 2 lb beef brisket, coarsely chopped
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup light soy sauce
- 1/2 cup mirin
- 1/2 cup sake
- 3.5 oz oyster mushrooms, coarsely chopped
- 3.5 oz fresh shiitake mushrooms, coarsely chopped
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 None large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 tsp black sesame seeds
- 1/2 tsp white sesame seeds
- Preheat oven to 300u0b0F.
- Melt butter in a shallow 8 inch Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Working in batches, cook beef, stirring, until browned. Return all beef to pan. Sprinkle with flour and stir to combine. Gradually stir in soy sauce, mirin, sake and 1 cup water until smooth. Cover and transfer to oven to braise for 2 hours, or until beef is tender.
- Increase oven to 350u0b0F.
- Stir mushrooms into beef mixture and season. Cover filling with puff pastry, pressing into sides of pan. Trim any excess pastry then brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 15 mins, or until pastry is golden brown.
