Strawberry And Almond Tart
- 2 sheets frozen pie dough, thawed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 None eggs
- 1/3 cup ground almonds
- 1/2 lb strawberries, hulled, halved
- 1/3 cup strawberry jam
- 2 tbsp slivered almonds, toasted
- None None ice cream, to serve
- Preheat oven to 325u0b0F. Grease a 14x4 inch fluted tart pan with removable base. Line with pie dough and trim excess. Place on a baking tray and chill until required.
- Cream butter, sugar and vanilla until just creamy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, until combined. Add ground almonds. Transfer to prepared tart shell and bake for 35-40 mins, or until set in the center. Let cool in pan for 30 mins then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Place tart on a serving platter.
- Arrange strawberries over tart filling. Combine jam with 1 tbsp water in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat for 3-4 mins, or until hot. Brush jam over strawberries. Sprinkle with slivered almonds and serve with ice cream.
